Did You Get My Message?
Read Psalm 139:1-12
Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord. - Psalm 139:4 (NIV)
"Did you read my memo?""It's all there in my e-mail." "I left a message on your voicemail." "I sent a text." Modern technology provides numerous ways for us to communicate with each other. Unfortunately, each of these methods also represents an opportunity for our messages and requests to get lost or to be ignored. For example, each time I send an important e-mail, I'm a bit nervous until I know that it's reached the intended recipient. Delivery isn't always a certainty.
Fortunately, we don't have the same worry about our prayers reaching God. God has already assured us that they do. Our petitions and our thoughts are known to Godeven before we can whisper them or pray aloud. There's no need for us to request a "message-received"reply. The way God acts on our requests may not be what we had in mind, but God knows them; the Bible assures us of that.
Communication here on earth may break down, but communication with Godnever fails. We can take comfort in the certainty that God receives our messageseach and every one of them.
Dear God, help us rest in the secure knowledge that you hear our prayers and understand them. Amen.

"제 메모 받으셨어요?” “다 제 이메일에 있어요.” “음성사서함에 메시지 남겼어요.” “문자 보냈어요.” 현대 기술 덕분에 우리는 여러 가지 방법으로 서로 연락할 수 있습니다. 불행히도, 이러한 방법으로 메시지를 보내면, 중간에 없어지거나 읽히지 않을 수도 있습니다. 예를 들어, 제가 중요한 이메일을 보낼 때마다, 받을 사람에게 도착했다는 것을 알 때까지 저는 초조합니다. 항상 모든 메일이 확실히 배달되는 것은 아닙니다.
다행히도, 우리의 기도가 하나님에게 전달되는 것에 대해서는 걱정할 필요가 없습니다. 하나님은 우리 기도가 하나님께 도착한다고 우리에게 재차 확인시켜 주셨습니다. 우리가 작은 소리나 큰 소리로 기도하기도 전에 하나님은 우리의 간구와 생각을 아십니다. 우리는 “수신 확인” 답장을 요구할 필요가 없습니다. 하나님의 응답은 우리가 생각한 것과 다를 수 있지만, 하나님은 우리의 간구를 아십니다. 성경이 그 사실을 확인시켜 줍니다.
지구상에서의 통신은 단절될 수 있지만, 하나님과의 통신은 실패하는 법이 절대로 없습니다. 하나님이 확실히 우리의 기도 하나하나를 다 들으신다는 사실에 우리는 마음에 평안을 얻을 수 있습니다.
기도 하나님, 하나님이 우리의 기도를 들으시고 이해하신다는 것을 알고 마음에 평안을 가지도록 하여주십시오. 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.
