Cured or Healed?
Read John 9:1-11
[The formerly blind man] answered, ". . . Jesus made some mud, rubbed it on my eyes, and told me to go to Siloam and wash my face. So I went, and as soon as I washed, I could see."- John 9:11 (TEV)
The energy seemed to drain from my body. Iwould have another evening of bone-dragging tiredness. Nights like this seemed endless and eternal. Will I ever have a time of energy, creativity, and health? I struggle with chronic illness and with the constant awareness of disability.
God created my body. I believe that God can heal me just as Jesus healed the man born blind. Yet years have passed, and still I struggle daily.
As I wrestled with why some people are healed and others are not, I realized the difference between healing and cure. Healing means wholeness, well-being, and peace. Cureis an absence of disease and disability. God may heal without curing.
With sudden joy, I realized that God has healed me. To be in Christian ministry has been my life’s desire, and God has blessed me with 20 years of working in the church. Am I cured? No. Am I healed? Absolutely!
Gracious God, we ask for healing that we may be whole inour relationships, our bodies, and our minds. Amen.

치료된 것인가 혹은 회복된 것인가? /
요한복음 9:1-11
대답하되 예수라 하는 그 사람이 진흙을 이겨 내 눈에 바르고 나더러 실로암에 가서 씻으라 하기에 가서 씻었더니 보게 되었노라 -요한복음 9:11
제 몸에서 힘이 빠져나가는 것 같았습니다. 저는 또 다시 매우 피곤한 저녁을 보내게 될 것입니다. 이러한 밤은 끊임없이 영원할 것처럼 보였습니다. 과연 저는 에너지가 넘치고, 창조적이며, 건강한 시간을 가질 수 있을까요? 저는 만성질환과 장애에 대한 끊임없는 걱정 때문에 괴롭습니다.
하나님은 제 몸을 창조하셨습니다. 예수님께서 태어나셔서 눈 먼 사람을 고치셨듯이 하나님께서 저를 고치실 수 있을 줄로 믿습니다. 그러나 수년이 흘렀고, 저는 여전히 매일 힘들어하고 있습니다.
왜 어떤 사람들은 치유되고 어떤 사람들은 안 되는지 고민하다가, 회복과 치료의 차이점을 깨닫게 되었습니다. 회복이란 온전함, 건강, 평안을 의미합니다. 치료는 병과 장애가 없는 것입니다. 하나님은 치료 없이 회복시키실 수 있습니다.
하나님이 저를 회복시키셨다는 것을 깨닫고 갑자기 기쁨이 찾아왔습니다. 교회에서 사역하는 것은 제 평생의 소원이었는데, 하나님은 제가 20년 동안 교회에서 일하도록 복을 내리셨습니다. 제가 치료되었습니까? 아닙니다. 제가 회복되었습니까? 물론(네!) 그렇습니다!
기도 은혜의 하나님, 우리를 회복시켜서 우리의 관계나, 몸이나, 마음이 온전하게 하여주십시오. 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.
